I was introduced to the benefits of Netflix and chill during my stay in the US a few months ago. I discovered that it is a good alternative to traditional television for its convenience and practicality. You get to watch the shows that you like in your preferred time and device without the unnecessary distractions of commercials and news. Last January, Netflix released the reality show “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”, a perfect sequel to the books I read 2 years ago. It was a great way to start 2019.
The konmari method is decluttering our house through mindful evaluation of our possessions. We keep what sparks joy and gratefully let go of things that have done their purpose. As I have previously tried it before, I just conducted a joy check in my present wardrobe and piles of paper. But I got reminded that I could also konmari my emotions and thoughts. If it does not spark joy, I should let it go. I let go of all the negative emotions and thoughts attached to certain people and experiences from 2018. With gratitude, I kept the superfantastic relationships and adventures that spark joy from the previous year until now. Choosing people who choose you regardless of the life stage you are in is an act of love towards yourself and the people dear to you.
2019 is gonna be a better year.
